A Rescue Disk is built on the basis of Linux operating system kernel and is an .iso file which includes: * Linux system and configuration files; * A set of utilities for operating system diagnostics; * A set of auxiliary utilities (file manager, etc.); * Antivirus database files. An ISO image is a .iso file with an image of a CD/DVD disk. If used via special software, it can substitute optical disk. There are two ways you can start up a PC with a damaged operating system: * Locally, from a CD/DVD-ROM disk. The PC must have a CD/DVD-ROM drive. * Remotely, from administrator workstation or another networked PC. In order to start up operating system of a damaged PC from a CD/DVD-ROM disk, do the following: * Configure the PC to boot from CD/DVD-ROM drive in BIOS (see your motherboard documentation for details). * Insert a disk with a written Rescue Disk image into CD/DVD-ROM drive of the infected PC. * Reboot the PC.
